Working in dusty and dark environments is always a challenge, added to the fact that they are working businesses. Therefore, the Handrail Creations Bolton photography shoot required speed and adaptability as the order of the day. Working with two Canon Speedlites connected wirelessly, Paul was able to significantly improve the lighting without having large power units or cables running everywhere. In an ever-changing environment, this was, in essence, particularly handy. Accordingly, he can move quickly to shoot some hand finishing, or get out of the way as and when he needed to.
The most challenging aspect was photographing a detail of one of the processes without giving too much away. After the machine was set up, Paul had to climb inside the machine. Under strict supervision, he then shot some extremely close up details using only available light.
His particular favourite part of the shoot though is shooting the two young craftsmen who do all the hand finishing. Again shooting and setting up quickly, Paul was able to capture some great shots of the lads. Amidst the challenges, Paul’s expertise shined while capturing intricate details, allowing the beauty of Handrail Creations to emerge in each shot.
